The Accident
“Hit the banner, Henry. You’ll tie up the game!” Miss B yelled.
I was so nervous; we already had 3 outs and I didn't want to make number four. Losing is not my thing, I just don't do it. I still wasn't sure what to do. I think I’m going to try to kick a home run. Hailey pitched the ball, my team went running. Don't kick it, it's too bouncy. The ball got to me, I picked it up, and threw it back.
“Really! What was wrong with that?”
“Too bouncy!”
She pitched the ball again. I ran up, booted the ball, and ran. My team was
running as the ball hit the ceiling. It fell and no one caught it. The other team ran to the
ball, but I just keep running. I was feeling unstoppable now. Cameron threw the ball at me and I jumped. MISS. I was on my way to fourth base, Crap there's already three
people on that base.
Blake took off now, they threw the ball at him, miss again. Blake scored and I stopped running.
Blake is a powerhouse, I knew he could get the game tied up if he really tried. Hailey pitched the ball and Blake bombed it. I went running, I made it to first base and took off for second. I felt my life fall out from under me “OWWWWWW!” I couldn’t think. My knee hurt so bad. Miss B and Winkler ran over to me.
“Wow, that looked bad. It's already swelling up,” Winkler said. They picked me up, and off to the nurse's office I went.
